Anti terror

"Inevitably the far-right are bleating their traditional the innocent have nothing to fear mantra. They should ask the Guildford 4, the Birmingham 6, or the MacGuire family what they think about that. If there was any truth at all in such nonsense then why bother with any system of justice at all?
Why not just lock up anybody, at anytime, for anything; based solely upon whim, hearsay and rumour, rather than by due process of law involving awkward things such as evidence and proof, with guilt or innocence being established beyond reasonable doubt? "

From the bbc website http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/4286873.stm/. Exactly. There ares some bizzare people who claim that when someone becomes a terrorist, then they lose their rights. Perhaps, but you generally have to PROVE they have done so before you can take those rights away. Detaining innocent people is something every government should do their utmost to avoid, not encourage. These are bad bad times.

The most surprising thing is that we are meant to trust the government on intelligence. thats right, intelligence they cannot show us shows that such and such a person is a huge threat. Surely, after the WMD fiasco, no-one can take this seriously? Intelligence is not good, unless it can prove something in a court of law. Why are people happy to trust the government on something they cannot easily be held to account to? Have they learnt nothing? These laws protect us all, and we should not forget that.
